Ostmodern are the developers and co-investors behind Cirkus, a UK-based subscription video-on-demand service that offers best-of-British television programmes to international Pay TV operators.
Conceived by Content&Co to help incumbent pay TV platform operators counter the threat posed to their business by new OTT services such as Netflix, Ostmodern are responsible for product design and strategy.
The fresh and distinctive offering delivers a seamlessly encapsulated channel experience of iconic Brit-hits and will initially be made available via cable, IPTV and DTT platform operators in the Nordic territory.
The recently announced multi-year deal with ITV Studios Global Entertainment gives Cirkus popular ITV titles such as Lewis, Appropriate Adult, Poirot and Prime Suspect and third party shows including Case Histories and Touching Evil.
Says Dan Gopal, senior VP, global digital media and home entertainment, ITVSGE: “We are always looking for new opportunities to extend the reach of our content for consumer, so we are delighted to be a major content provider for the new SVOD service Cirkus.”
Cirkus co-founder Mark Bradford added: “Incumbent pay TV platform operators everywhere are looking for strong new services to bundle into their top-tier pay TV packs to deliver more value to subscribers. In particular, they are looking to address the imbalance between their linear and on-demand offerings bringing them more in-line with increased viewer demand for on-demand access. Our deal with ITVSGE gives Cirkus on-going access to both the cream of its newest TV series, as well as its well known, iconic titles.”
