Rdio have launched Vdio. Rdio, the rather fancy and nice looking Pandora-meets-Last.fm streaming music service has made it’s first foray into the VOD market.
Interestingly, it is actually a TVod (Transactional) service. Rather than focusing on pushing subscription films in a Netflix-style, Rdio is about understanding your tastes and serving you something you really, really might like. Netflix’s limitation is always it’s catalogue (though they seem to know more than you’d imagine), whereas Rdio have hedged their bets on a broader selection to give more accurate recommendations.
For those not interested in sometimes-underwhelming subscription content offerings, Rdio might have that little something that brings it above iTunes and Google Play as a rich discovery experience.
